Joe Budden Gets Punched in the Eye!
It’s no secret that Joe Budden and Wu-Tang don’t like each other and at the Rock the Bells concert things came to a head, or should I say “an eye”.
Joe Budden has had beef with a number of rappers for different reasons, including Jay-Z, The Game, and Royce 5′9, a dude from his own camp. It seems that Joe Budden’s lyrics start unnecessary problems, which looks like the case for his beef with Method Man. Joe Budden recorded a freestyle that made reference to Method Man and not in a good way. Then, later in a video with Mickey Factz he apologized for the comments made in the rap, but also stated that if anyone from Wu-Tang disses him, he will retaliate. Supposedly, Meth and Joe squashed the beef, but as we can see, all was not settelled with Wu-Tang.
So, how did RaeKwon become apart of this? Well, he is Wu-Tang Clan, too. Their band of brotherhood, acts upon a motto of, “You mess with one, you mess with all of us”. Other members of Wu-Tang have also issued their statement of being behind Method Man 100% in this beef. And, at the Rock the Bells Tour, it looks RaeKwon was just not ready to let this one slide. Mickey Factz was in the room when this altercation got started and this is what he told HipHopDX as his account of the action:
“Rae came in on some peaceful shit at first. He dapped everybody, he dapped Joe, But then everything changed. He wanted to talk about the video he seen me in with Joe Budden.” (the video in which Joe apologized but warned about further disses from Wu-Tang) “Raekwon wasn’t having it. I didn’t see the punch, but I heard it…Rae was just in another zone.” Mickey tried stop things from going further, but was ready to fight in Joe’s defense, seeing that there were six men against one. He told RaeKwon that at the end of the day he had no problems with Wu-Tang Clan. He went on to explain that the video happened the day before [they squashed it]. Rae didn’t swing. Although Mickey didn’t see the punch, it apparently landed on the eye and also the shoulder. Mickey also states that the two men talked after the altercation.
I can understand why RaeKwon was so heated with Joe. Joe lyrically attacked a member from their crew with seemingly no cause and tacked on somewhat of a threat to his apology to Wu-Tang, by telling them not to diss him or he would retaliate. That would piss off any real nigga, especially one such as RaeKwon and the members of Wu-Tang who have been in the game for a long time and has international recognition for being apart of the heart-and-soul of hip-hop. And, being that this threat is coming from an artist who has had one hit song from ‘96, makes it even tougher to swallow. The apology/threat that Joe Budden issued was provoking and disrespectful. People are saying that:
“Joe has a right to state his opinion and others should expect criticism for their actions and choices”
“Joe did this for attention and publicity and I wish RaeKwon wouldn’t gave him the time of day”
“This time, Joe’s mouth wrote a check it couldn’t cash”
“Maybe he [Joe] will think about his eye the next time he goes to diss someone without a cause”.
Although, I do not agree with how it went down, I can certainly see why RaeKwon did what he did.
