R. Kelly is one of the best selling music artist, with over 40 milion records sold. His songs are known for getting you in the mood and turning a regular night into something hot and sexy!!
He’s had great success throughout his music career, but he took a nasty hit when a tape of him having sex with a 14 yr old girl was leaked to the press. He denied being the man in the video, but I haven’t met one person who’s seen the tape and said it wasn’t him. However, with both parties denying their presence on the tape, R. Kelly was acquitted and has been keeping on the low since then.
Knowing Kelly’s passion for music, most figured he would be back and they were right. He resurfaced, releasing a new mixtape with great reviews and touring in Africa, UK, and London. But, with all the good buzz, the old issue of young girls seems to linger on in one of his songs.
In the remix lyrics of Dream’s “Kelly’s 12 Play” Kelly sings, “I believe that your momma and your daddy, they laid down and they did it to, Kelly’s 12 Play”. Now, 12 Play came out in 1993 which would make the girl around 16. Even if this line wasn’t intended in that nature you can’t just go around saying stuff like that all willy-nilly with your extensive past. And with all the past allegations and many who believe that you’re an unconvicted child molestor, you have to come better than that. Even Michael Jackson knows not to make references to little boys in his music.
There are other stories of Kelly out-and-about trying to get a young lady back to his hotel room by grabbing and pulling her hair saying, “Do you like that? It’s pain, but its good pain, isn’t it?” Eventhough this is no where near as extreme as the video tape, Kelly has got to make better judgements about how he handles his sex life, and what he says in his music. Right now, he shouldn’t be seen with any woman who looks under 30! He has a promising future in the music world at age 42 which is a success in itself and I hope he doesn’t let his past issues ruin his future.
